Hugh Bristow: Founder and Principal

Hugh founded Bristow & Associates in 1993 ten years after relocating from London where he worked for a large firm of Chartered Surveyors.  During that time he undertook all kinds of valuation work across the UK from central London retail to Scottish factories and everything in between.

An enjoyable period with Knight Frank in Brisbane in the mid 1980's saw qualifications transferred and experience gained in CBD property.  It was during this time that Hugh became particularly interested in rent review work, a specialisation that has continued to this day.

A couple of unsatisfying years in the early 90's recession proved to be the motivation for going it alone and more than two decades later Bristow & Associates has thrived as a niche practice offering the sophistication and skills of a major firm with the personal service only a boutique firm can.  Hugh has been a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors since 1979 and serves on the Australian Property Institute Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Committee.


Megan Graham: Senior Valuer

Meg has almost 20 years’ experience within the Valuation industry and has undertaken work across south east Queensland in residential, industrial and commercial property.  However, she is most renowned for her specialisation within the residential field and more particularly her expertise as a prestige residential valuer. 

She regularly values some of the most sought after properties and has a wealth of experience in valuing residential properties worth up to $20million.  She is equally at ease negotiating the highs and lows of entry level properties as she is with heritage listed mansions.  Meg can assist you with all your valuation requirements and is often engaged as a consultant for possible renovations, extensions and developments and her keen eye for detail within any design and construction ensures her advice is invaluable to maximise returns and market appeal.


Julian Colpitts: Senior Valuer

Julian studied Land Economics at the University of Paisley, United Kingdom where he enhanced his understanding of the mechanics of the property market by undertaking an Honours year specialising in finance, development and investment.

Following graduation and full UK Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors qualification, he worked within the Valuation, Development, Research, Property Marketing, and Property Management and Leasing fields in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London before migrating to Australia.  In Australia he worked for smaller valuation firms before undertaking various valuation roles within State Government including a key role in a major asset revaluation project.

He has continued to broaden his experience concentrating on both non-residential and residential valuation.  The high number of jobs undertaken within the retail, commercial and industrial property markets have covered a wide range of methods and geographic areas.

Julian is also experienced in high end value development appraisals, requiring sophisticated valuation techniques, analytical skills and a deep level of understanding.

Melinda Ryan: Senior Valuer

Melinda completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Property Economics at QUT and commenced her career working for the QLD Government in the valuation and disposal of surplus assets including housing, commercial buildings and former schools and courthouses. 

A move abroad saw Melinda spend the next couple of years working in London and Birmingham for the HSBC in the area of portfolio and property management for the Banks national portfolio of retail banks.  The role included valuation of the freehold portfolio, management of the leasehold portfolio and specific project work including the change of signage of the Bank from Midland Bank to HSBC across the Midlands. 

On returning to Australia Melinda commenced working for Colliers International in a State, then National role in both the Brisbane and Sydney offices managing the national account for the portfolio management of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA).  Essentially the outsourced contract to provide portfolio management services of the CBA’s national retail portfolio (banks and ATM’s) including lease management and administration, procuring new retail space and negotiating new leases, rent reviews, subleasing surplus space and annual budgeting. 

Melinda returned to a career in pure valuation work with this firm in 2006 undertaking valuation jobs in the areas of residential feasibility, retail, commercial and industrial property.

Aggie (Agnieszka) Bik: Registered Valuer

Aggie is a newly qualified Valuer.  Originally from Poland, she migrated to New Zealand post completion of high school graduation.  While in New Zealand she completed a Bachelor of Property degree at the University of Auckland.  

Following graduation she worked for three years as an Assistant Residential Valuer specialising in entry level properties.  In 2008 she took a break to raise her family and made the move across to Australia.  She has been with Bristow and Associates since 2010.  In her time at the company she has worked in the capacity of an Assistant Valuer in a number of highly complex valuations predominately in the field of commercial and industrial property.
