Principal of the firm, and an Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 1979.  Hugh  is also an active member within the Australian Property Institute (formerly the Australian Institute of Valuers and Land Economists) having joined in 1987.  He was formally registered as a valuer in the state of Queensland in 1986.  He is also registered to perform valuations within New South Wales.

Hugh has over 20 years experience in property valuation, consultancy, management and development with all round expertise in property appraisal, with particular emphasis on development feasibility studies and investment analysis.

Hugh has lectured at Queensland University of Technology in asset management, computer applications and subdivision.  He has been prominent in a number of landmark Brisbane CBD rent reviews.

Career highlights include:-

Launching Bristow & Associates in 1993 and achieving growth targets
Building cohesive stable team of valuers equipped for dynamic environment
Valuation of entire Australia Post Queensland portfolio of 162 properties in 1996 on time
Feasibility study on behalf of Baulderstone Hornibrook for the former CSR New Farm refinery (now Cutters Landing); multiple stages and about 600 units

 

Julian Colpitts  BSc (Hons) MRICS  AAPI (CPV) Registered Valuer Qld No. 2382

Julian studied Land Economics at the University of Paisley, United Kingdom.  He enhanced his understanding of the mechanics of the property market by undertaking an Honours year specialising in finance, development and investment.

Following graduation and UK qualification he worked within the Valuation, Development, Research, Property Marketing, and Property Management and Leasing fields before migrating to Australia in 1997.  In Australia he worked for smaller valuation firms before undertaking various valuation roles within the Queensland State Government Department of Natural Resources and Mines.  Julian joined Bristow & Associates in 1998.

He has continued to broaden his experience concentrating on non-residential and residential valuation.  The high number of jobs undertaken within the commercial and industrial property markets have covered a wide range of valuation methods and geographic areas throughout Queensland.

Julian is also experienced in high end value development appraisals, requiring sophisticated valuation techniques, analytical skills and a high level of understanding.

Further professional development has concentrated on property market research, DCF modelling, membership of RICS property faculties and the application of technology in office and valuation environments.

Meg Graham  B PG Dip BUS AAPI (CPV) Registered Valuer Qld No. 2412

A graduate of Bachelor of Business in Property Studies at the University of Queensland, Meg also previously completed a Bachelor of Arts and PG. Dip Ed at University of Queensland, majoring in Economics, English and Geography.  She was employed as a high school teacher at Somerville House prior to joining Bristow & Associates.

Meg has been pursuing a career as a property valuer since January 1997 and is a Registered Valuer both in Queensland and New South Wales.

Whilst specialising in inner city residential valuation, Meg pursues a keen interest in urban development trends and movement.  Her broad market knowledge extends to both the Sunshine and Gold Coast areas. 

She continues her professional development pursuing further business studies at the University of Queensland whilst undertaking several development projects.

 

Melinda Ryan  B App Sci (Property Economics)

Following tertiary study at Queensland University of Technology, Melinda graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Property Economics.  As a graduate valuer for the Department of Public Works, Queensland Government, she garnered a broad grounding in the valuation, acquisition and disposal of government property.  She subsequently joined private enterprise with PRD Property Research focusing on CBD commercial and residential markets.

In 1998 Melinda relocated to the UK and worked for HSBC in the field of valuation and estate management.

On return to Brisbane in 2000, Melinda commenced work as portfolio manager for Colliers International managing the outsource contract for the Commonwealth Bank retail portfolio in Queensland.  Work experience was varied including the procurement of new sites, leasing, rent reviews, facilities management and formation of annual budget forecasts.

A move to Sydney in 2002 eventuated following the appointment to manage the New South Wales Commonwealth Bank retail portfolio.  Aside from those responsibilities already reserved, Melinda was also accountable for team recruitment and training.

Following maternity leave Melinda joined Bristow & Associates in mid 2005 to re-train in all aspects of property valuation.  She intends to attain full Queensland Government registration in 2007.
